One of my favorite books is Chato’s Kitchen written by Gary Soto. It is a hilarious picture book! This story is spicy and has Spanish words throughout the text. When I read this book to children, the classroom is filled with roaring laughter and a big round of applause at the end of the story. Beyond doubt this is a must read book!!!!! Chato’s Kitchen is about a cool, ``low-riding cat''in East L.A., and his buddy, Novio Boy, prepare to serve up a special housewarming party for their new neighbors, a family of mice, in which their guests are also the main course, but the mice bring along their own guest, Chorizo, the toughest dog in the barrio. http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/s/gary-soto/chatos-kitchen.htm
My second favorite book is Skippyjon Jones by Judy Schachner. I have fallen in love with this children's book it is about Skippyjon Jones a Siamese cat who thinks he is a Chihuahua. He goes to his closet and turns into Skippito Friskito. Every one of his adventures has him turning into a hero and running into a pack of chihuahuas who talk in a Spanish/English, which is really quite funny.

My third favorite book is Knuffle Bunny is written and illustrate by Mo Willems. It is about a little girl name Trixie, her Daddy, and Knuffle Bunny take a trip to the neighborhood Laundromat. But the exciting adventure takes a dramatic turn when Trixie realizes knuffle bunny was left behind . Mo Willems illustrate a combination of muted black-and-white photographs and expressive illustrations, this stunning book tells a brilliantly true-to-life tale about what happens when Daddy’s in charge and things go terribly, hilariously wrong. It is very cute and funny book to read for pre-school children.

Chapter 2
Chapter 2 is about culture and the definition of culture is Culture it is defined, by the text as ways of knowing, believing, valuing, and thinking among a group of people. In chapter 2 I learn it is important to true exploration of culture, school culture, school culture in America, and the mismatched culture. I think it is important for Educators need to become aware that school culture is a mismatch for many of their young students and I think that Educators need to know their students backgrounds, families, and values.
